Curricula

Quality Employment Supports for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders - This is a 2-day advanced training based on the curriculum, Quality Employment Practices for Supporting Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), developed by Alan Kurtz and Janine Collins at the University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies.

Learning Modules

Modular Long Term Care - Long-Term Care Learning Modules, an interactive multimedia learning module, developed by The University of Maine’s Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies (CCIDS) and supported by funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Service Administration, Bureau of Health Professions.

Violence Against Women with Disabilities - This module uses the lens of Explanatory Legitimacy to discuss and analyze domestic violence and disability and to suggest a structure for teaching and learning in social work curricula.

Products

Dusting Off the Toolbox (PDF) - Dusting Off the Toolbox provides information to help instructors prepare, conduct, and review their presentations. It is divided into three sections, with basic information and simple resources or activities to assist instructors as they reflect upon their teaching practices and plan for a training event.

Growing Ideas Tipsheets - tipsheets  on a variety of topics related to young children.

Learning Ideas Tipsheets - tipsheets on a variety of topics related to Pre-K and school-aged children.

Maine Health Care Notebook - The Maine Health Care Notebook was designed by members of the Family Advisory Council to Maine’s Children with Special Health Needs program and published under the Maine Works for Youth! project.

Tobacco Access Portal: a web portal that will translate existing tobacco prevention, cessation and control websites into low literacy and accessible formats, developed in collaboration with Trefoil Corporation of Orono, Maine and the Bangor Literacy Center.

Teaching Resources – Health Literacy

Know Your Body Project – A collaboration among Stephen F. Gilson, Ph.D., and Elizabeth DePoy, Ph.D., faculty in disability studies and social work; undergraduate social work students enrolled in SWK 380 The Biological Person and the Environment; and a disability studies intern, Nancy Bergerson. The goal of the project was to develop fully accessible teaching materials about human biology.

Virtual Resource Centers

Maine Autism Spectrum Resource Center – The Maine ASRC website is organized into twelve (12) categories to assist you with locating autism spectrum-related resources.
