United Nations General Assembly Designates April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day
In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of children and adults with autism so they may lead full and meaningful lives. Citing estimates that more than 80% of adults with autism are unemployed, the theme of this year’s observance is Employment: The Autism Advantage. Read the Secretary General’s message for 2015 here.
