Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of The Americans With Disabilities Act (July 26, 2015)
July 26, 2015 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 give civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities similar to those provided to individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, and religion. All month, @Disabilitygov will feature guest bloggers celebrating the ADA. In Maine, regional celebrations will be held in Augusta’s Capitol Park on Friday, July 24th (PDF) and at the Portland Public Library Rines Auditorium on Saturday, July 25th (PDF).
