Liz DePoy

Liz DePoy riding her horse, Riddle. What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?

What is common to all my days is the nature of activities: reading, writing, teaching, thinking. But the substance of the days is characterized by difference. I have worked on many agendas of relevance to disability, disability studies and living a good life. Right now, I am working: a) with Stephen [Gilson] on the application of research and theory to the development and commercialization of mobility and fitness equipment that embodies high functionality and aesthetic design; b) on a new book analyzing the relationship of disability to constructing the limits of humanness; c) revising my research methods text (6th edition); d) collaborating with Vince Caccese on a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to stimulate engineering innovation; and e) conducting research with Cooperative Extension on keeping senior farmers active and safe from harm as they continue to farm.
