Bonnie Robinson

April the Giraffe and Bonnie Robinson. How did you first get involved with CCI/CCIDS?

In 1998, as an undergraduate, I did a field experience and then a practicum at CCI. In 1999, I earned my undergraduate degree in child development and family relations and completed a concentration in developmental disabilities with Dr. Lynn Gitlow.

I then worked as a graduate assistant from 1999 to 2001 before being hired by CCI to work on the Maine Adolescent Transition Partnership project.

I actually met two of my colleagues, Debbie Gilmer and Janet May, much earlier, when both served as directors of Camp Capella. In 1989, Debbie Gilmer came to my son’s IEP meeting when he was making the transition from a regional school for children with special needs to our local elementary school. She assisted the local school with the move as he was one of the first children with special needs to be mainstreamed there.
