Reply to question: How have the IDS courses shaped your perspective of disability?

Interdisciplinary Disability Studies courses have shaped my perspective of disabilities in showing me that disability is a very complex topic that means something different to everybody. These courses have taught me how fluid the word normal is, and how everyone’s normal is different on any given day. They have given me insight into how so many other individuals live and how to create inclusive environments for all individuals. Being in this minor has shown me how important it is to educate yourself on disabilities, and to hold others around you accountable for educating themselves as well.
